REWARD YOUR KIDDOS WITH CLASSDOJO
As teachers you are well-versed in the struggle of getting your pupils’ attention let alone maintaining them. Not to mention getting them excited to actively take partnin class activities.
Reward has been the talk amongst educators when it comes to increasing students’ motivation which then helps in getting and maintaining their attention and increasing their participation.
The choice is on you whether you want to give them physical rewards as in stickers, pencils, notebooks etc or points which they collect for a certain period of time.
I have tried both, and honestly I could say that providing physical rewards was a big hassle not because of the money you have to spend (trust me I don’t mind spending for them) but it was of the work I have to put to prepare those rewards.
I have tried using ClassDojo on and off before but this year I exclusively use it for all 3 of my English classes.
ClassDojo helps us to keep track of their scores. You don’t need a physical reward chart for this. What’s more, you can set your ow sets of rewards and penalties
You also can reward students as a group. This helps to get tgem stay on task during group activities.
To get parents to be involved, you can invite them to your class. Once they have joined they will get notifications each time you give a feedback/points to their child. This will be sent via email that they used to join.
I haven’t fully utilized this but am looking forard to start on it next year!
